Pete Promise edition by Daniel Dundon Romance eBooks
As avid readers of all of Dan Dundon's solidly developed books to date, we were pleased by Pete's Promise with immediate mystery placed in a Florida setting the author intimately knows. We were drawn to the several stories going on all at once as attorney Thad Duncan outwitted the tobacco company in court, carried on flirtatiously with a staffer only to take things up with public defender and later takes on defense of a teen falsely accused of murder. Then there's old Pete the fisherman, ducking in and out of the picture -- a presumed dead man himself insisting that Thad had just one year to live. That ominous deadline with death gives urgency to the whole story. The author has a skill of keeping his stories moving along and they demonstrate fine research. The ending is a total surprise. I worked professionally with Dan Dundon on the same newspaper almost 40 years ago and that background serves him well in this book. We were touched by the inclusion of the name of the executive director of the Museum of Science and History in Chapter 32, Margo Dundon. Nice memorial mention to a magnificent woman who directed a real Iowa museum for a number of years, only to later lose her life to cancer. Of course, Dan's own Margo.Product details

Pete Promise edition by Daniel Dundon Romance eBooks Reviews
What a fun read! Being a 15 year resident of Jacksonville, I could easily visualize the neighborhoods described in the story as it unfolds through the book. I simply found it fun and enjoyable to read, and was anxious to finish to see how the ending would be handled. Mr Dundon is a skilled writer and he moves you along to a perfect ending.
Pete's Promise by Daniel Dundon proves to be an engaging book with strong characters and a robust story line. It is suspenseful and romantic while highlighting the many complex moral issues faced by individuals in today's society. Dundon does a fantastic job of weaving an interesting and vividly creative tale with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last page. His cast reflects the dynamics of individual relationships and the necessity of examining and assessing one's life while finding out what is most important to each of us. Impressive read and great writing!
This author came up with an amazing story line, and I couldn't put the book down. I laughed. I cried, and Icannot wait to read it again and again. GREAT BOOK!!!
This book, by a former newspaper reporter and Northeast Florida resident with a clear love of the environment, is set along the St. Johns river and is based very loosely on a crime that took place in Jacksonville in the early 90s. The characters are different and the author puts his unique spin on events while lifting the reader up and setting him or her gently down in the environs that surround "Jax." It is a great read ... part legal thriller, part love story, part suspense, part paranormal that will keep you turning pages (or flicking screens) until the very last. And as an added bonus, anyone familiar with Jacksonville and the University of North Florida will find some old friends among the cast of characters.
Great read from a solid author.
